The magnetic state predicted for FeRh depends sensitively on the lattice constant and on the treatment of exchange and correlation in density-functional theory. This work compares several commonly used functionals, including local-density, generalized-gradient and SCAN meta-GGA approximations, for the FeRh alloy. The calculations highlight differences in how the approximations describe its structural, electronic and magnetic behavior, and why a result from one functional should not be treated as universally reliable for a difficult magnetic material.
